The BrixFest 2019 Programme has landed!

It's finally here, the BrixFest 2019 Programme of Events!

The committee have been working hard to put on a fantastic schedule of events which will take place over the bank holiday weekend at the end of May. Whitsun. Clue's in the name - we need the sun...can't believe we've never used that pun before, in eight years.

Eight years. Where on earth has the time gone?

Eight years ago we were gearing up for the first event. Little did we know how much BrixFest would change and evolve - and improve.

This year's programme of events begins on the Saturday as ever, with an official opening by local radio legend Matt Rogan - and the ever-present Brixham Town Band at 11am. Cooking demonstrations on-stage are up next, featuring an amazing lineup of chefs including Mitch Tonks, Andy Sewell and Ron Campion. Live music, local food stalls and beer/cider from BAYS Brewery takes us through to the Grand Firework Display - viewable from anywhere around the inner harbour.

Sunday sees the return of the Dragonboat Challenge. Can anyone knock The Manor Inn off their perch? The course record from the inaugural event two years ago still stands - will 2019 be the year we have a new winner with a new course record? So many questions. You can be there to see the answer. Breakwater Beach, Sunday 26th May from 10-4pm. Food stalls, craft stalls and beer (BAYS return) will be awaiting you!

On Monday our Children's Day is back and has had a makeover. And by makeover - we mean it's about 10% more awesome than it's been before. Come and join us as we explore Brixham to find Melody the Mermaid, build a sculpture out of used fish and chip boxes, make all sorts of arts and crafts, browse local food stalls and get our faces painted - all to the backdrop of a beautiful soundtrack: music by local musicians of all ages.

BrixFest in 2019 is focusing on how we, as a festival, can lessen our impact on our environment - and how we can help spread the word. Climate change is real, and humans contribute a huge amount of negative impact. Join us to enjoy the festival responsibly by refusing single-use plastics.

Full programme of events is available to download as a PDF at www.brixfest.com, or you can find it and share it on Facebook or Twitter.

See you soon Brixham!
