GOLD Winner - Tourism Event of the Year at South Devon Tourism and Hospitality Awards 2015
WINNER Tourism Business of the Year at South Devon Business Excellence Awards 2016

On Friday 18th March 2016, BrixFest 2015 won the fantastic 'Leisure/Tourism Business of the Year' award by the judges from The Herald Express South Devon Business Excellence Awards! This is our second award in under six months...
Back in October 2015, the BrixFest committee were thrilled to accept the award for Tourism Event of the Year at the 2015 Tourism Awards. Amazingly, in February of 2016 we were nominated in the Business Excellence Awards, and the committee got suited and booted once more. Black Tie is the dress code at such events, and who are we to decline?
Fortunately, Brixham is home to an absolutely incredible group of businesses and as such we wern't alone amongst the nominees. Our headline sponsors were shortlisted for Business of the Year alongside us, and the very artistic Flossy and Jim joined our tables, up for two awards. To complete the set, #TorbayHour was up for 'Most Innovative Business'!.
Trust us to make an entrance, we were the first people to arrive and this caused a problem: the bar wasn't open! Fast forward half an hour and the drinks reception was in full swing, we were in the company of some real South Devon royalty including ex-deputy mayor and friend of BrixFest, David Thomas, and Jim Parker - editor of the Herald Express.
Credit goes to the Riviera Centre in Torquay for hosting a lovely evening. Service and food were both fantastic and the event ran smoothly from start to finish. As our event category creeped further towards us, nobody held out much hope. Having won back in October we were happy just to have been invited along. As anticipation grew, so many worthy winners were announced, and we became even more in-awe of the company we were in.
As our name was called out a shriek went up from the 22 people we had on our side and the whole world knew Brixham was in town. Harry and Sophie jumped up and made their way onto the stage to receive the winner's certificate and bottle of complimentary Moet & Chandon Champagne.
And so another day goes by with another award (don't we sound pretentious!), and we again remind ourselves of how lucky we are to be surrounded by worthy winners of awards, but also by the amazing people within Torbay's community who make our event possible.
Thank you: from the bottom of our hearts. We'll see you in just over two months for BrixFest 2016 - bigger and better than ever.
